Mitt Romney's Florida enthusiasm deficit is evident in both the size and energy of the crowds (or huddles, as the case may be) surrounding him, in contrast to those following Newt Gingrich. Newt receives standing ovations from cheering throngs, Romney golf claps from small groups. Newt rallies are standing room only, while Mitt speaks to rooms with hundreds of empty chairs. I wonder about the demographics of those crowds? The enthusiasm gap cannot be sitting well with the Romney campaign, especially in view of Mitt's voluminous outlay of cash compared to Newt's much smaller expenditures.
